hello!

This is a list of my favorite horror movies! Hover on the posters to read my little personal notes and get free to use blinkies I made for each movie, you can also click on the IMDB link to read more about an entry.

I love fun horrors, campy, funny, charming, cheap, but I also have an adoration for more artistic and psychological movies. It's really nothing groundbreaking, I'm a simple person, I see a woman commiting violent crimes and I go crazy. I see a nurse/doctor outfit and I go crazy. I see deadpan humor and I go crazy. I watch these to have fun!!!! and that's what truly matters ^^

So, have fun scrolling, reading and watching my special picks if something catches your eye!

Scream

[1996]

The Scream franchise is one of my favorite things in the entire world and the first movie stands the test of time! I love everything about it, I love the acting, I love the music, I love the characters, I love the script. It's everything I want from a horror movie: it's funny, it's camp, it's charming, it's iconic. It parodies slasher movies and at the same time embodies the genre perfectly - laughing with it AND at it. Plus it's really queer.

American Mary

[2012]

You can probably notice by many of my profile pictures across the internet, my layouts, my random pictures of the main character decorating my sites - I absolutely adore this movie. It awakened something in me [strange love for medical horror and sexy surgeons], I feel Mary Mason in my soul, my art and writing wouldn't be the same without her. I really can't reccommend this one enough if, like me, you love body mods, latex, erotic horror, medical aesthetics, BLOOD!!

The house that Jack built

[2018]

The only thing keeping me from rewatching this movie over and over is its runtime, but it's worth every single second. It's such a brilliant piece of horror media - the deadpan humor mixed with this constant feeling of dread, its themes, the writing of the main character, beautiful shots through the whole movie. It's funny, it's beautiful and it has something to say! Give it a shot if you were ever intimidated by its lenght or it seemed like just another serial killer movie.

Franken-
hooker

[1990]

If you haven't noticed from my whole website, I have an incredible soft spot for campy, funny, oversexualized horror movies. So, obviously, Frankenhooker blew me away! It's so perfectly stupid, fun, crazy and weird, I really can't stress how much i loved it enough! I've seen it described as "so bad it's good" but I have to disagree - it's so campy it should be a crime. Also it invented sex reassignment surgery!

[IMDB]

Pearl

[2022]

The second I started this movie, I instantly fell in love with it. Its plot is very simple, but done just right to feel fresh and effective, and that's exactly what I love in horror movies! It has such a beautiful style, made to look like all those family movies about a simple farm girl with big dreams, from the acting, costumes, to directing and music. I don't think I'm able to say anything about Pearl that haven't been stated before, so I'll just leave it at "it's awesome and I like it"

[IMDB]

May

[2002]

Another thing you can probably notice about this collection is that I can't get enough of horror movies about unusual women [because I'm one of them!]. May is such a strange one, everything about is strange and I LOOOOOVE it!!!!! Nothing gets me going like a good old horrorish love story with a good old main girl who's probably autistic. God, now I really want to rewatch it... Angela Bettis I WILL GET YOU!!!!!!!!

[IMDB]

Bride of Chucky

[1998]

Call me basic, call me mainstream, but this is tops down my favorite Chucky movie... Jennifer Tilly is a joy to watch in everything she does and she was perfect for this role. Tiffany Valentine is one of my favorite horror characters ever!!!!!! This movie is just pure camp and cheesy slasher fun, it changed the series forever, and as much as I appreciate the Child's Play movies that came before, this one made it into something truly special. Plus, Rob Zombie in the soundtrack!

[IMDB]

Seed of Chucky

[2004]

This one has such mixed reviews and opinions about it floating around, but honestly I have no idea why. It's fun, it's stupid, it's weird, it's genuinely so funny and I can't hide a smile whenever I watch it or think about it. Something about a freaky nonbinary doll baby, so ugly that it becomes cute... Also, Jennifer Tilly gets TWO roles in this one, like, come on! If you liked the over the top cheesy stupidity of the previous movie, you should give this an honest chance!!

[IMDB]

Perfect Blue

[1997]

Oh man... I could go about this move forever and ever! It's one of my favorite movies ever and it was my introduction to my horror obsession. There's just something about it, it's almost enchanting in the way it looks, feels and sounds. The animation is beautiful, the story is deeply psychological, the themes just speak to me and the soundtrack is haunting. This movie is surrounded by this eery feeling, everything is just so slightly out of place, until it all starts crashing down. Also the ending is so creepy and everyone is trying to tell me that it's a happy ending??? OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!

[IMDB]

Spree

[2020]

I really didn't know what to expect out of this one when I first put it on, social media movies [especially horrors] are famously embarrassingly awful. But I fell in love with it right away!! You probably need to have a very specific sense of humor to enjoy most of it's comedic value, but oh man, it's so perfectly right for me. The main character is so fun, the internet is both so over the top stupid and realistic at the same time, it's so deadpan and awkward but measured just right to be funny. It's one of those horrors that I want to rewatch forever!

[IMDB]

Creep

[2014]

Where do I even start?? It's just such a fun movie, it doesn't try to be deep, it just wants to be funny and make your skin crawl AND I LOVE IT!! It's hard to make found footage work these days I think, but Creep nails it perfectly!! The weirdness of it, the humour of it, the queerness of it... The acting is great, it's perfect for this type of movie, full of awkward pauses and uncomfortable dialogue you would make with an overly friendly stranger. It's short, it's sweet, give it a try!

[IMDB]

Creep 2

[2017]

I'm always so worried when I love a horror movie and then I see it has a sequel. I think it's a very universal experience, right? But [thank God!] Creep 2 made me feel like I was watching the previous one for the first time again! It somehow manages to still feel fresh, still surprise me, still pull out new ways to make me pleasantly uncomfortable. Like every great horror man [Chucky, Frankenstein's Monster, Gru], Peachfuzz now needs a bride! Kinda!

[IMDB]

Midsommar

[2019]

I don't think it's overrated, I think all the praise is sooo deserved. I've never seen regional folklore shown in such a beautiful and scary way, and it's something really dear to my heart! It does what I absolutely love in horror movies - using daylight as a setting, something as scary as complete darkness. It's brutal, it's eerie, it's beautiful... It's a very special, beautiful, strange and interesting experience!

[IMDB]

Carrie

[1976]

Here's a fun fact about me! I was a really cowardy child, I was scared of pretty much anything: strangers, my own thoughts, death, scary chain comments on the internet, spicy food. So of course, even the thought of horror movies made me cry. It stayed that way up to when I was around 14, until my new friend came over to my house for the first time and picked a movie to watch. It was Carrie and it resonated with me in a way that I didn't understand back then, but now it's very obvious to me. It wasn't scary, gory, shocking, loud, it was beautiful, and sad, and it was about me.

[IMDB]

Hereditary

[2018]

Man, usually I'm not really into these classically supernatural movies, you know, scary demons and evil ghosts, just doesn't interest me that much. But ohhhh Hereditary got me, it really did!! I watched it with my friend and we were hooked all the way through. Later I dug deeper about its interpretation and I fell in love with it. It's such a beautifully crafted, gut wrenching story about deep generational trauma, showing how it digs into a person and stays inside of them...

[IMDB]

Nurse 3D

[2013]

Is this a good movie? Not at all. Does it look good? Also no, hard no. It's from the era where half of the movies put '3D' in their title to justify the god awful special effects made only to work at the cinema. Noting is well made in this move and yet I'm so fascinated by it. It's really stupid, cheap, poorly acted - and it's peak camp. I'm not sure if I reccommend it to be honest, but this list wouldn't be complete without it!

[IMDB]

American Psycho

[2000]

Sorry guys, I'm really not immune to weird, covered in blood, pathetic men with some deep issues. I don't really want to fix him or anything, I just want to watch him lika a little ugly hamster in a cage. Also the themes are awesome, it's really funny and I'm not letting losers online ruin this movie for me!! :P

[IMDB]

12 hour shift

[2020]

God, this movie!!!!!! It's so perfect from the start to the very finish, it's fast, funny, unexpected, brilliant, underrated! Angela Bettis as the lead kills it again on this list, just thinking about her makes my skin crawl! [in a crush way, not in a scary way!!] It's more of a black comedy than a horror, I wasn't sure if it counts, but according to IMDB it is a horror movie so!! It's truly such a special watch, it has an incredible amount of charm, it's so perfectly deadpan... It's a really good starting point for people not sure about getting into horror, I think :-]
